About DJ David Seel
I started my DJ career back at the age of 14 when I was involved in setting up a radio station (Radio Frequency) at Pukekohe High School. Initially involved from a technical perspective I became a regular 'on air' personality and later went on to become station manager. At the same time I started assisting a friend who was a mobile DJ, which was a great way to learn the basics. As demand grew for my services I setup my own equipment. I became the resident DJ at Bonnies Bar, Pukekohe's first nightclub, and expanded my business to employ other DJ's taking on the Pukekohe Cossie Club and then the Rata lounge. When I got married, I chose to wind down my DJ business to spend more time with my wife on the weekends as we both had full-time jobs as well.
My first job was as a broadcast technician, where I worked at a number of radio stations providing design and technical support. I then moved into electrical engineering, gaining my NZCE in electronics and computer technology. This lead me into a number of project management roles. Later I completed my Diploma in Management at Auckland University specialising in Services Management and I became General Manager of a construction company.
One day I got to the point, working 80-100 hours a week, I remember saying to myself "there's got to be more to life than this". Shortly after this my brother-in-law introduced me to a Networking company USANA. Within 7 months I was in the fortunate position to give up my full-time income and work part-time from home. Some years later the same brother-in-law gave me a call and said the DJ his daughter had booked for her 18th birthday the following day had just cancelled, could I help out? I hired some extra gear, bought some new CD's and the night went off brilliantly. I got 5 requests for bookings that night and realised being a DJ was something I really did love, and I was very talented at it. So in 2006 Seel Sound was reborn...
I still maintain some other part-time business interests including USANA, Audio Visual Events, Information Leadership Consulting but my passion is mobile DJ.
I am a member of the Disc Jockey Association of New Zealand and continually work on improving my craft through industry training and personal development.
On a regular basis I personally coordinate and run successful events with over 500 guests with multiple presenters and entertainers. These skills I can apply to your event too.
I look forward to meeting with you and finding out more about you... Give me a call on 0800 878393.
